ADA Thermal Management group has an opening for a Senior Engineer/Scientist with an MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Materials Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

ADA Technologies, Inc. is a leading technology development and commercialization company located in Littleton, CO, and offers excellent career opportunities for talented and motivated engineers and scientists in a wide range of disciplines.

We offer highly competitive benefits, salaries, 401(k) and stock options, and are currently going through an exciting and very dynamic growth phase in all three of our technology verticals – thermal management, energy storage, and safety/survivability..

Responsibilities and activities for this position include the following:

In this position, you will use your background in thermally conductive materials, nanocomposites, polymers, and thermal design skills to develop, fabricate, and scale up thermal management materials, in collaboration with other teams (this is a highly hands-on position with significant time expected to be spent in the R&D as well as manufacturing spaces). Such applications will include thermal management of electronics and power electronics as well as Lithium-ion batteries. You will be expected to perform as a hands-on technical lead for R&D and developmental projects; impact product design decisions by providing reliable analysis and thermal insights; accurately predict the thermal performance of electronics architectures (including 3D Integrated Circuits); maximize thermal performance while balancing cross-functional interests. Other technical duties will include:

  • Follow top-level directions from Program Manager and perform high-quality technical work through material development and innovation;

  • Participate in team design reviews and technology investigations;

  • Specify and optimize all aspects of material process parameters;

  • Define and guide thermal experiments to characterize thermal materials, components, and systems;

  • Analyze thermal test data and prepare technical reports and proposals;

  • Communicate status and results to cross-functional teams and management;

  • Travel occasionally to customer sites (e.g., DoD installations) for technical/kickoff meetings and presentations.

Education Details

Minimum: MS in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science (or equivalent) with emphasis on Polymer Composites, Thermal Design, Heat Transfer or Fluid Dynamics; PhD preferred; 3+ years of experience in small/big industry. At least 3+ years of experience in hands-on carbon-based composite fabrication and synthesis in a lab and/or industrial setting is mandatory.

Key Qualifications

Highly skilled in synthesis and fabrication of composites for thermal and structural applications, understanding of thermal isolation/interface materials and thermal management of electronics, including but not limited to forced cooling and passive cooling approaches. Previous experience with SBIR/STTR or BAA procurement, responding to RFPs from the DoD, and experience in maturing technologies from R&D through products/insertion is highly desirable.

Experience with manufacturing, thermal components supply chains and cross-communications between design, OEM and third-party vendor teams is a plus.

Highly motivated individual.

Excellent English communication, proposal/report writing skills, and enjoy working in a team environment.
