Novel 3D Platform for High-Throughput Glycomics Discovery

Current methods used to fabricate glycan microarrays and bead based assays use synthetic manipulations that are complex, costly, and time consuming. There is a significant need to develop a new surface platform for the facile and effective fabrication of these important tools.

Why?

As one of the major classes of biomolecules, glycans play a vital role in human health.  Examples include cancer identification and growth, pathogens that attack the human body and the immune system’s defenses against them, and autoimmune illnesses. Glycans also play an important role in animal health and crop optimization.

ADA’s Technology

ADA’s patent-pending surface chemistry and glycan conjugation methods facilitate the one-step immobilization of unmodified glycans to form microarrays on slides or assays on other substrates. 3D surface chemistry and low-background characteristics provide improved site density, enhanced signal-to-noise ratio, and improved sensitivity to realize easy and reliable interaction analysis. This leads to the rapid, high-throughput discovery of key aspects of important biological mechanisms, providing critical insights into biological functions. The surface chemistry is suitable for mono-, oligo- and polysaccharides; glyco-proteins; glyco-lipids; and other glyco-conjugates.
