Integrated Drug Delivery and Imaging Compound for Cancer Treatment

A substantial need exists for new technologies to improve imaging and deliver an adequate dosage of therapeutic drugs and heat to a localized tumor in a deep body organ while limiting collateral damage to the surrounding tissue. 

ADA’s Technology

ADA is developing a multi-modal therapeutic and imaging technology that eliminates cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissue. Research on the feasibility of using multifunctional nano-carriers that combine multiple therapies (hyperthermia, drug, and oxidants) with tumor-specific targeted delivery and MRI imaging capability for the treatment of cancer is underway and has been proven successful through both in vitro and in-vivo demonstrations.

Applications

This combined imaging and treatment solution is ideal for eliminating cancerous cells in deep body organs or areas where invasive techniques are risky or pose risk for adverse side effects. In vivo tests for prostate cancer cell lines have been proven successful generating substantial interest, and future work is planned to expand the platform to treat other cancers.
