ADA Environmental Solutions (NASDAQ - ADES) was founded in 1996 to commercialize ADA Technologies’ particulate control technology for reduction of fly ash in coal-fired power plant flue gas. The spin off was completed to provide a financing mechanism to commercialize the environmental control product.
Since their launch ADA-ES has expanded beyond particulate control to include other emissions solutions such as mercury control and management of cyclone boiler operations.
Mercury control for coal fired power plants has become a cornerstone of the business. The standard technology for mercury control involves injection of powdered activated carbon into the flue gas. A natural adjunct to this technology is to transition into manufacturing of activated carbon. To accommodate the market ADA ES has launched a subsidiary organization, ADA Carbon Solutions, LLC.,that has brought on line a carbon manufacturing facility located in Louisiana.
